Usage

General Description

Torcetrapib is a chemical compound that was developed as a potential drug for increasing levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, also known as "good" cholesterol, in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. It works by inhibiting the cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP), which promotes the transfer of cholesterol from HDL to other lipoproteins. Despite promising initial results in early clinical trials, further research revealed that torcetrapib was associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events and death. As a result, the development of torcetrapib as a medication was ultimately discontinued.
