Description

Quinidine polygalacturonate, also known as Cardioquin, is a compound formed by the reaction of quinidine and polygalacturonic acid in a hydroalcoholic medium. It contains approximately 60% quinidine by equivalence. This salt is slightly ionized and has low solubility in water. Studies have shown that while equivalent doses of quinidine sulfate result in higher peak blood levels earlier, the polygalacturonate salt provides a more uniform and sustained blood level.

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Quinidine polygalacturonate is used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient for the treatment of various cardiac arrhythmias. Its unique properties, such as slightly ionized and low solubility in water, contribute to a more uniform and sustained blood level compared to quinidine sulfate, making it a preferred choice in certain therapeutic applications.
Used in Drug Delivery Systems:
In the field of drug delivery, quinidine polygalacturonate is utilized as a component in the development of novel drug delivery systems. Its properties can be leveraged to improve the release profile and bioavailability of other drugs, potentially enhancing their therapeutic effects and reducing side effects.
Used in Research and Development:
Quinidine polygalacturonate is also used in research and development for studying the effects of ionization and solubility on drug absorption and distribution. This knowledge can be applied to the design of new drugs and drug formulations, leading to improved efficacy and safety profiles.

Clinical Use

In many patients, the local irritant action of quinidinesulfate in the gastrointestinal tract causes pain, nausea, vomiting, and especially diarrhea, often precluding oral use inadequate doses. Studies with the polygalacturonate saltyielded no evidence of gastrointestinal distress. It is availableas 275-mg tablets. Each tablet is the equivalent of200 mg of quinidine sulfate or 166 mg of free alkaloid.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 28371-10-0 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,8,3,7 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 28371-10:
(7*2)+(6*8)+(5*3)+(4*7)+(3*1)+(2*1)+(1*0)=110
110 % 10 = 0
So 28371-10-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
