Synthesis of benzofuran-containing spirolactones from diarylcyclopropenones

Several novel benzofuran-containing spirolactones were synthesized and characterized using copper-catalyzed heterodimerization of 1,2- diarylcyclopropenones, and followed by sequential intramolecular cyclopropene ring opening and oxidative cyclization.
