The present invention relates to novel barbiturate and thiobarbiturate derivatives and a composition for promoting hair growth using the same. According to the present invention, the barbiturate and thiobarbiturate derivatives, in an animal model, have shown to promote hair growth and have excellent effects on hair growth by promoting regulation of Wnt/andbeta;-catenin and hair growth factor signaling and suppressing mechanism of apoptosis.
