Organorhodium complexes, prepared from the reaction of rhodium chloride with PPh3 and LiR, initiate the polymerization of aryl isocyanides at an ortho position in the presence of PPh3, to provide polyisocyanides. The organometallic complexes catalyze the polymerization of isocyanides. The molecular structure displays a square planar geometry around the rhodium atom, with one triphenylphosphine ligand.
