General Description
8-Indoadenosine is a chemical compound derived from adenosine that has been shown to have various biological functions. It acts as a potent inhibitor of cyclic AMP phosphodiesterase, which plays a role in the regulation of cellular signaling pathways. Additionally, 8-Indoadenosine has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, making it a potential therapeutic agent for conditions such as neurodegenerative diseases and inflammatory disorders. Its ability to modulate adenosine receptors suggests that it may have a role in regulating neurotransmission and synaptic plasticity in the brain. Research on 8-Indoadenosine continues to uncover its potential applications in medicine and pharmacology.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 31281-88-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 3,1,2,8 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 31281-88:
(7*3)+(6*1)+(5*2)+(4*8)+(3*1)+(2*8)+(1*8)=96
96 % 10 = 6
So 31281-88-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Studies of nucleosides and nucleotides. LXIII. The oxidative replacement of 8 mercaptoadenine derivatives
Ikehara,Ogiso
, p. 401 - 410 (2007/10/04)
In order to elucidate the mechanism of oxidative replacement of 8 mercaptoadenine derivatives, 8 mercaptoadenosine, 8 mercapto 9 methyladenine and 8 mercapto 9 β D arabinofuranosyladenine were treated either with hydrogen peroxide or iodine potassium iodide solution. When the oxidation reaction was performed in an acidic solution, 8 mercaptoadenosine converted rapidly to 8 sulfinic acid, which was desulfinated to give adenosine. In the alkaline condition 8 mercaptoadenine derivatives were further oxidized to 8 sulfonic acids. In the presence of iodine cation it converted to an 8 iodo compound.
