Gamma-benzyl glutamic acid, also known as γ-benzyl glutamic acid, is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C12H15NO4. It is a derivative of glutamic acid, an amino acid that plays a crucial role in various biological processes. In γ-benzyl glutamic acid, a benzyl group (C6H5CH2-) is attached to the gamma carbon of the glutamic acid molecule. Gamma-benzyl glutamic acid is often used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and other chemical compounds due to its unique structure and reactivity. It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and has various applications in the fields of medicine, biochemistry, and materials science.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 3283-43-0 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 3,2,8 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 3283-43:
(6*3)+(5*2)+(4*8)+(3*3)+(2*4)+(1*3)=80
80 % 10 = 0
So 3283-43-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Chemoenzymatic synthesis of glutamic acid analogues: Substrate specificity and synthetic applications of branched chain aminotransferase from Escherichia coli

Xian, Mo,Alaux, Sebastien,Sagot, Emmanuelle,Gefflaut, Thierry

, p. 7560 - 7566 (2008/03/11)

(Chemical Equation Presented) A new route to α-keto acids is described, based on the ozonolysis of enol acetates obtained from α-substituted β-keto esters. Escherichia coli branched chain aminotransferase (BCAT) activity toward a variety of substituted 2-oxoglutaric acids was demonstrated analytically. BCAT was shown to have a broad substrate spectrum, complementary to that of aspartate aminotransferase, and to offer access to a variety of glutamic acid analogues. The usefulness of BCAT was demonstrated through the synthesis of several 3- and 4-substituted derivatives.
