Benzene-centered tri- and tetrametallacarborane sandwich complexes

Multiple metallacarborane units bound to a central benzene ring are possible with the boron-recapping method. In the FeCo3 complex 1, as well as its precursor, the benzene ring is used as a linchpin connecting the metallaboron units. These complexes are candidates for the generation of electron-delocalized polynuclear mixed-valence systems through redox processes.
