The reaction between cis-[Pt(C6F5)2 (PPh2H)2], [Pt(norbornene)3], and PPh3 (1:1:1) results in the formation of the Pt(II) derivatives [(C6F5)2Pt(μ-PPh2) (μ-H)Pt(PPh2H)(PPh3)] (1) and [{(C6F5)(PPh3)Pt(μ-PPh2) (μ-H)}2Pt] (2). For the molar ratio 1:1:2 the reaction proceeds with with formation of the Pt(I) derivative [(C6F5) (PPh3)Pt(μ-PPh2)Pt(PPh3)2] (3) and the Pt(II) derivatives [(C6F5)2Pt(μ- PPh2)(μ-H)Pt(PPh3)2] (4) and [(C6F5)(PPh3)Pt(μ- PPh2)2Pt(H)(PPh3)] (5). The structures of complexes 2, 3, and 5 have been established by X-ray diffraction. Spectroscopic (IR and NMR) data are also given.
