Dibutylbis(octyloxy)stannane, also known as DBBO, is an organotin compound with the chemical formula C24H52O2Sn. It is a colorless liquid at room temperature and is soluble in organic solvents. DBBO is primarily used as a catalyst in the production of polyurethane foams, where it promotes the reaction between isocyanates and polyols. It is also employed as a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and as a heat stabilizer in the production of rigid PVC. Due to its potential environmental and health risks, including its persistence in the environment and bioaccumulation potential, the use of DBBO and other organotin compounds has been restricted or banned in many countries.
