Refluxing of an equimolar mixture of 3-amino-2-carbethoxyquinazolin-4(3H)-one (1) and aryl iso(thio)-cyanates in acetic acid medium gives 3-aryl-1H,3H-triazino-quinazoline-2,4,10-trione-4,10-dioxo-2-thiones (2) in one-step. 2-Aminocarbonyl-3-aminoquinazolin-4(3H)-one (3) with aryl iso(thio)-cyanates also yields 2 under similar experimental conditions.
