General Description
2-Methyl-3-nitroimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine is a chemical compound that belongs to the nitroimidazole class of compounds. It is a yellow crystalline solid with a molecular formula of C7H6N4O2 and a molecular weight of 182.14 g/mol. 2-METHYL-3-NITROIMIDAZO[1,2-A]PYRIDINE is used in the pharmaceutical industry as a precursor for the synthesis of various pharmacologically active compounds, including antiprotozoal and antibacterial agents. It has also been studied for its potential use in the treatment of cancer, due to its ability to bind to DNA and exhibit cytotoxic properties. Additionally, 2-Methyl-3-nitroimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine has been investigated for its use as a sensitizing agent in radiation therapy. However, it is important to note that this compound may pose health and environmental hazards, and proper safety precautions should be observed when handling and using it.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 34165-09-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 3,4,1,6 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 34165-09:
(7*3)+(6*4)+(5*1)+(4*6)+(3*5)+(2*0)+(1*9)=98
98 % 10 = 8
So 34165-09-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

This work reports the synthesis and the antiviral activities of 3-benzamido, 3-phenylureido and 3-phenylthioureido derivatives in the imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine series. The structure was proven by NMR spectroscopy. The synthesized compounds were evaluated against a large number of viruses. The 3-phenylthioureido derivative 7 showed moderate activity against human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) in vitro. The crystallographic data for 8 are also reported and explain the absence of activity against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
