No end in sight: the mono-, bi-, and triphosphirenes 2, 3, and 5, respectively, are prepared by a simple iterative method (see scheme; 1 = [Ph ≡ CPW(CO)5], 4 = [PhPW(CO)5]); these oligomers offer numerous possibilities in coordination chemistry and catalysis.
