Synthesis and Retention Behaviour of Smectic 2,5-Diphenyl-pyrimidines
Kraus, G.,Zaschke, H.
, p. 199 - 206 (2007/10/02)
The synthesis of 2--5--pyrimidines 3, as well as the gas chromatographic investigations concerning the retention behaviour of their smectic A, C, F and G modifications for the substituted benzenes are described.Starting from the calculated enthalpies of solution and activity coefficients the intermolecular interactions in the range of terminal groups are discussed. The polarity of the stationary phases is proved by their chemical structure and only by a small part corresponding structure of the mesophases.
Polimorphism in the Homologous Series of the 2--5-pyrimidines
Biering, A.,Demus, D.,Lichter, L.,Sackmann, H.,Wiegeleben, A.,et al.
, p. 1 - 24 (2007/10/02)
Several members of the homologous series of 2--5-pyrimidines have been synthesized. The phase transitions were determined by microscopic and calorimetric investigations. The classification of the smectic modifications was done by investigation of the miscibility relations and by texture observations.Besides the nematic phase and smectic phases A and C, smectic phases F, G and H were observed. All the variants of polymorphism observed can be derived from the sequence H G F C A N.
