This work for the first time reports X-ray crystals of two metal complexes, i.e., a four-coordinate, bridged nickel(II) porphyrin complex, Ni(N-p-NCOC6H4NO2-tpp) (1) with a NiII-N-(p-COC6H4NO2)-N (or NiII-NNB-N) linkage, and a cisoid six-coordinate, bridged thallium (III) porphyrin complex, Tl(N-p-NCOC6H4NO2-tpp)(OAc) (3) with an TlIII-N-(p-COC6H4NO2)-N (or TlIII-NNB-N) linkage. Compound 1 is a distorted square planar, whereas compound 3 is a distorted square-based pyramid in which the apical site is occupied by a chelating bidentate OAc- group.
