The 1H NMR spectrum with 125Te and 13C satellites of tellurophene-2-carbaldehyde oriented in a nematic mixture has been analysed and the complete ring structure has been determined.Inclusion of the dipolar coupling involving the aldehydic carbon and proton nuclei in the fitting procedure leads to the conclusion that, within the limits of the experimental error, only the Te-O syn conformation is allowed.
