Stepwise synthesis of cellodextrins assisted by a mutant cellulase

A 411-protected α-cellobiosyl fluoride is an efficient donor for the enzymatic stepwise condensations onto methyl β-D-glycoside acceptors. These reactions, catalyzed by the Ce17B E197A glycosynthase from Humicola insolens, gave cellodextrins from degree of polymerization 3 to 6 in high yields.
