A facile and efficient copper(I)-catalyzed protocol for the synthesis of 4-boraneyl-1,4-dihydroisoquinolin-3-ones via B–H insertion of copper carbenes derived from 4-diazoisoquinolin-3-ones into amine-borane Lewis adduct is reported. The reactions feature a good scope for the 4-diazoisoquinolin-3-ones, mild reaction conditions and high yields. The products are isolated as bench-stable Lewis adducts with Me3N.
