Of the title aldehydes 1 and 2 , the isomers 1 are more strongly hydrated when kept in dioxan + water or hexadeuterioacetone + deuterium oxide mixtures, respectively.The uncatalysed reaction R-CHO + H2O --> R-CH(OH)2 proceeds much faster with compounds 1. - Key words: Azole Aldehydes, Hydration, Equilibrium and Rate Constants
