Studies on chromium(III) complexes with active nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur donor ketimines synthesized under microwave conditions

Heterocyclic ketimines, 1-(2-furanyl)ethanonehydrazincarbothioamide (L 1H), 1-(2-furanyl)ethanone- hydrazincarboxamide (L2H), 1-(2-thienyl)ethanone hydrazincarbothioamide (L3H) and 1-(2-thienyl) ethanonehydrazincarboxamide (L4H), were prepared by the condensation of thiosemicarbazide and semicarbazide hydrochloride (in the presence of sodium acetate) in ethanol with the respective ketones by using microwave as well as conventional methods. Chromium(III) complexes have been prepared by mixing CrCl3 6H2O in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratios with monobasic bidentate ketimines. The authenticity of the ligands and their complexes has been established by elemental analyses, melting point determinations, molecular weight determinations, EPR, infrared and UV spectral and X-ray powder diffraction studies. These studies showed that the ligands coordinated to the metal atom in a monobasic bidentate mode, coordinating through the nitrogen and sulfur/oxygen donor system. Thus, an octahedral environment around the metal atoms has been proposed. The growth-inhibiting potential of the ligands and complexes has been assessed against a variety of fungal and bacterial strains.
Synthesis, structural, and antibacterial studies of some transition metal complexes derived from thiosemicarbazone and semicarbazone

A series of metal complexes of Pd(II), Pt(II), Rh(III), Ir(III), and Ru(III) with thiosemicarbazone and semicarbazone of 2-acetyl thiophene have been synthesized. Their structures were determined on the basis of elemental analyses; molar conductance; magnetic susceptibility measurements; and IR, 1H NMR, and electronic spectral studies. On the basis of molar conductance, the complexes may be formulated as [M(L)2]Cl2 and [M'(L)2Cl2]Cl [where M = Pd(II), Pt(II) and M' = Rh(III), Ir(III), and Ru(III)] due to their 1:2 and 1:1 electrolytic nature. On the basis of IR, 1H NMR, and electronic spectral studies, an octahedral geometry has been assigned for Rh(III), Ir(III), and Ru(III), while square planar geometry has been assigned for the Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes. The synthesized ligands and their complexes have been screened for bactericidal activity against several bacterial species (i.e., B. macerans, A. aureus, E. coli), and it is shown that the metal complexes act as more active antimicrobial agents than the uncomplexed ligands from which they derive.
Microwave assisted synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial studies of unsymmetric imine complexes of organotitanium(IV) and organozirconium(IV)

A new class of uasymmetrical organotitaniuim(IV) and organozirconium(IV) complexes of biologically potent iigands derived from heterocyclic ketones and semicarbazide hydrochloride and 2-hydroxy-N-pheny) benzamide have been prepared by the microwave irradiations. The ligands act in monobasic bidentate manner with N∩OH and O∩OH as donor systems. The ligands and the resulting complexes of the type Cp2M(O∩O) (N∩O) (where M represents titanium or zirconium) are characterized by the elemental analysis, conductance measurements, molecular weight determinations and spectral studies. On the basis of the electronic, IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral studies, octahedral geometry has been proposed for the resulting complexes. The isolated products are coloured solids, soluble in methanol, DMF, DMSO and THF. A comparative study has been made between microwave assisted synthesis and the thermal synthesis. All the complexes and their parent ligands have been screened against a number of microbes and discussed with positive findings.

The ligands act as monobasic bidentate with NOH and NSH as donor systems. All the organotitanium(IV) and organozirconium(IV) complexes and their parent ligands have been screened against a number of microbes and their sterilizing power on male rat has been tested and discussed with positive findings.

Some trioganotin(IV) complexes with the general formula, Ph3SnL have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molecular weight, conductivity and infrared, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral data.The IR and 1 H NMR spectral data suggest that the ligands act in a monofunctional bidentate manner coordinating through nitrogen and sulphur atoms.A pentacoordinated trigonal-bipyramidal structure is tentatively proposed for the complexes.
