Preparation of Some 4-Aminopiperidines and a Kinetic Study of Their Conformation

Some 4-amino-1-methyl-2,6-diphenylpiperidines have been prepared by reducing 1-methyl-2,6-diphenylpiperidin-4-one oximes with (i) sodium-ethanol, and (ii) lithium aluminium hydride and their probable conformations deduced on the basis of the kinetics of their reaction with 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene.Polar effects of 3-methyl and 3-ethyl substitutents are also discussed.
