Grignard reagents (RMgX) were prepared from RX (X = Cl,Br) using the mixture of BrCH2CH2Br and I2 as an initiator in anhydrous solvent such as THF or ether. The rate of preparing Grignard reagent was increased because of using the mixture of BrCH2CH2Br and I2 as an initiator.
