3-OXO-FRIEDELAN-20α-OIC ACID FROM GYMNOSPORIA EMARGINATA
Ramaiah, Parimi Atchuta,Devi, Parimi Uma,Frolow, Felix,Lavie, David
, p. 2251 - 2256 (1984)
3-Oxo-friedelan-20α-oic acid, named as maytenonic (polpunonic) acid, has been isolated along with β-amyrin and sitosterol from Gymnosporia emarginata. 1H and 13C NMR signals have been assigned for the structure.X-ray analysis of the single crystal confirmed that the carboxylic acid is α-oriented at C-20 and the D/E rings of this D:A-friedo-oleanane are in chair-chair conformation. 13C NMR data of the present compound also enabled the assignment of the C-20α- and β-methyl carbons in friedelin. - Key Word Index: Gymnosporia emarginata; Celastraceae; β-amyrin; D:A-friedo-oleananes; friedelin; 3-oxo-friedelan-20α-oic acid; maytenonic acid; polpunonic acid; sitosterol.
FRIEDELANE TRITERPENE RELATED TO POPULNONIC ACID
Sousa, Jose Rego de,Jannotti, Nina Konovaloff,Silva, Gracia Divina de Fatima,Pinheiro, Jose Auri
, p. 821 - 822 (2007/10/02)
From the root bark of Austroplenckia populnea, a new triterpene acid was isolated along with populnonic acid, dispermoquinone, pristimerin and 20-hydroxytingenone.On the basis of UV, IR and mass spectra of the product and its methyl ester, and of the 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra of the methyl ester, it has been possible to assign the new triterpene 3-hydroxy-2-oxo-3-friedelen-20α-carboxylic acid.
ISOLATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NATURAL PRODUCTS FROM PLANT TISSUE CULTURES OF MAYTENUS BUCHANANII
Kutney, James P.,Beale, Michael H.,Salisbury, Phillip J.,Stuart, Kenneth L.,Worth, Brian R.,et al.
, p. 653 - 658 (2007/10/02)
Key Word Index - Maytenus buchananii; Celastraceae; tissu culture; polpunonic acid; sitosterol; quinomethides; tingenone; 22β-hydroxytingenone. Explants of Maytenus buchananii were induced to form a callus and subsequently to form suspension cultures on a wide variety of media.Culture extracts showed cytotoxic activity, but examination by TLC did not indicate the presence of maytansine.Isolation of natural products from a large scale suspension culture led to the identification of polpunonic acid, sitosterol and the cytotoxic triterpene quinone-methides, tingenone and 22β-hydroxytingenone.Possible biosynthetic relationships of these and other triterpene quinone-methides are discussed.
