Migratory insertion of isonitriles into titanacyclobutane complexes was investigated. A stereocontrolled synthesis of substituted cyclobutanimines was also studied. Using the sterically crowded permethyltitanocene system, the intermediate iminoacyl complex is isolable and can be diverted by carbonylation to yield five-membered-ring enamidolate complexes.
