4197-24-4 Usage
Uses
Used in Microbiology:
CARBOL FUCHSIN is used as a staining agent for the detection and identification of microorganisms, particularly for the staining of acid-fast bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Its chemical properties allow it to bind to the lipid-rich cell walls of these bacteria, providing a distinct color contrast for easier visualization under a microscope.
Used in Histology:
In histology, CARBOL FUCHSIN is employed as a counterstain to enhance the contrast and visualization of tissue structures. It is often used in conjunction with other dyes, such as hematoxylin, to provide a clear and detailed representation of cellular components and extracellular matrix.
Used in Textile Industry:
CARBOL FUCHSIN is used as a dye in the textile industry for the coloration of fabrics. Its ability to bind to fibers and provide a deep, vibrant color makes it a popular choice for various applications, including the production of clothing, upholstery, and other textile products.
Used in Analytical Chemistry:
In analytical chemistry, CARBOL FUCHSIN is utilized as a reagent for the detection and quantification of certain chemical compounds. Its unique chemical properties enable it to react with specific substances, allowing for accurate measurement and analysis in various laboratory settings.
Indications
Carbol-fuchsin solution (Castellani’s paint) is an aqueous alcohol-acetone
solution containing phenol (4.5 g/100 mL), resorcinol (10 g/100 mL), and
basic fuschin (300 mg/100 mL). The basic fuschin appears as a dark purple
liquid that appears red on the skin and can stain. It has local anesthetic,
bactericidal, and fungicidal properties. It has also been reported to stimulate
granulation and epithelization. It is applied topically in the treatment of
subacute and chronic superficial fungal infection. It is particularly effective
in intertriginous areas.
Carbol-Fuschin is poisonous when ingested and is treated in the same
manner as phenol or resorcinol poisoning.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 4197-24-4 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 4,1,9 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 4197-24:
(6*4)+(5*1)+(4*9)+(3*7)+(2*2)+(1*4)=94
94 % 10 = 4
So 4197-24-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
