The bromination rate of N-aryl-cis-4-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboximides in acetonitrile was measured in the range between -40 and +10 deg C by a polarographic method.The effect of substituents in the aromatic ring of the N-arylimides on the rate of the reaction was investigated, and it was shown that the logarithms of the rate constants correlate with the Hammett ?-constants.
