Starting from palladium precursor [Pd(CH3CN)2Cl2], 1-diisopropylaminophospholes give dinuclear complexes, [Pd(phosphole)Cl2]2, which proved to be intermediates in the formation of mononuclear complexes, cis-[Pd(phosphole)2Cl2]. In contrast with the platinum precursor, only mononuclear complexes, [Pt(phosphole)2Cl2], are obtained with both cis and trans configurations. These new complexes were fully characterised by X-ray crystallography.
