Synthesis, molecular structure, and reactivity of allenylideneosmium complexes of the half-sandwich-type

The synthesis of a series of allenylideneosmium(II) compounds of the half-sandwich-type [Os(η6-arene)(=C=C=CR2)-(L)X]PF6 was discussed. The molecular structures of the compounds were determined by using crystallography. Results showed that the Os=C=C=CR2 moiety of these cations behaves as a centre of electrophilicity.
