Palladium assisted formation of carbon-carbon bonds was discussed. Insertion reactions of isocyanides into the Pd-C bond of orthopalladated primary amines and synthesis of 2-R-aminoisoindolinium salts were performed. Results showed that formation of this complex requires coordination of a second molecule of isocyanide per palladium through a bridge splitting process.
