The chiral bisphosphine prepared from the reaction of (S)-α-methylbenzyl amine with two equivalents of chlorodiphenylphosphine can be oxidised by direct reaction with one equivalent of either of the elemental chalcogens sulfur or selenium to prepare new chiral monoxidised bisphosphines.
