A study of the reactivity of the [Pd(C6H4X-2)Br(bpy)] (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine; X = C(O)Me, CN, CHO, CH=CH2) complexes was presented. The 2-R-arylpalladium(II) complexes reacted with XyNC (Xy = 2,6-dimethylphenyl) to give different mono- and triinserted complexes depending upon the nature of X, the other ligands and the reaction conditions. The crystal structures of the prepared complexes were also reported.
