Benzenesulfonamide, N-[(propylamino)carbonyl]-, also known as Tolmetin, is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that belongs to the chemical class of benzenesulfonamides. It is primarily used to treat various inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins that cause inflammation, pain, and fever.
