Description
Stiripentol is a third-generation antiepileptic compound characterized as a white solid. It functions as a positive allosteric modulator of GABAA receptors, enhancing GABA-mediated activation, particularly in receptors with α3 subunits. Additionally, Stiripentol inhibits GABA reuptake and increases GABA release in neonatal rat hippocampal slices. It also exhibits inhibitory effects on lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), blocking both lactate-to-pyruvate and pyruvate-to-lactate conversions by human LDH1 and LDH5.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Stiripentol is used as an antiepileptic drug for the adjunctive treatment of seizures associated with Dravet syndrome. It has been employed as co-therapy in the treatment of epilepsy, providing significant benefits when combined with other medications.
Used in Research and Analysis:
Stiripentol has been utilized in pharmacokinetic analysis and serves as a reference standard in fluorescence spectra analysis, contributing to the advancement of scientific understanding and development of new treatments in the field of epilepsy.

Anti-convulsant drug
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 49763-96-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 4,9,7,6 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 49763-96:
(7*4)+(6*9)+(5*7)+(4*6)+(3*3)+(2*9)+(1*6)=174
174 % 10 = 4
So 49763-96-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

The study of the sedative and anticonvulsive properties of a series of 1-alkoxyaryl 3-alkyl 1-alkene 3-ol and of the ketones from which they originate enabled us to select five compounds whose psychopharmacological effects were further studied. One of these compounds, 4,4-dimethyl 1-(3,4-methylene dioxy phenyl) 1-pentene 3-ol owns important anticonvulsive and sedative properties.
