Syntheses of N-protected β-trifluoromethyl-β-amino acids, γ-trifluoromethyl-γ-amino acids, δ-trifluoromethyl-δ-amino acids, and β-trifluoromethyl-β-amino-α-hydroxy acids (4,4,4-trifluoroisothreonine) starting from N-acyl-1-chloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethylamines are described.
