Description
CIS-CHLORDANE, also known as trans-chlordane or octachloro-2,2,4a,7,7a-tetramethyl-2,4,6,7,8,8a-hexahydro-1,4-endo, exo-methanoazulene, is an organochlorine pesticide that belongs to the chlordane family. It is a colorless to amber, solid or very viscous, noncombustible liquid which may impart a chlorine-like, irritating odor. Due to its chemical properties and insecticidal activity, it has been widely used in various applications.
Uses
Used in Agricultural Industry:
CIS-CHLORDANE is used as an insecticide for controlling a wide range of pests that damage crops and pose a threat to agricultural productivity. Its effectiveness in eliminating insects such as termites, ants, and various types of beetles has made it a popular choice for farmers and agricultural professionals.
Used in Residential and Commercial Applications:
CIS-CHLORDANE is also used as a termiticide in residential and commercial settings to protect structures from termite infestations. Its ability to penetrate and disrupt the central nervous systems of insects makes it an effective solution for controlling termite populations and preventing structural damage.
Environmental Fate
Photolytic. Irradiation of trans-chlordane by a 450-W high-pressure mercury lamp
gave photo-trans-chlordane (Ivie et al., 1972).
Chemical/Physical. In an alkaline medium or solvent, carrier, diluent or emulsifier
having an alkaline reaction, chlorine will be released (Windholz et al., 1983).
Emits very toxic fumes of chlorides when heated to decomposition (Lewis, 1990).
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 5103-71-9 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 5,1,0 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 5103-71:
(6*5)+(5*1)+(4*0)+(3*3)+(2*7)+(1*1)=59
59 % 10 = 9
So 5103-71-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
