It is a colorless, highly reactive liquid that is widely used as an oxidizing agent in various chemical reactions, particularly in the synthesis of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals. TBHP is produced by the reaction of isobutylene with hydrogen peroxide and is characterized by its strong oxidizing properties. It is also used as a radical initiator in polymerization reactions and as a bleaching agent in the paper and pulp industry.
