THONNINGINE-A AND THONNINGINE-B: TWO 3-PHENYLCOUMARINS FROM THE SEEDS OF MILLETTIA THONNINGII
Khalid, Sami A.,Waterman, Peter G.
, p. 1001 - 1004 (1983)
Key Word Index - Millettia thonningii; Leguminosae; isoflavones; 3-phenylcoumarins; robustic acid; thonningine-A; thonningine-B. The seeds of Millettia thonningii have yielded four isoflavones and three 4-hydroxy-3-phenylcoumarins, of which two are novel. On the basis of spectral analyses the novel compounds have been identified as 4-hydroxy-5,8-dimethoxy-3-(3',4'-methylenedioxy)phenyl-2''-isopropenylfurano(4'',5'',6,7)coumarin (thonningine-A) and 4-hydroxy-5,8-dimethoxy-3-(4'-methoxy)phenyl-2''-isopropenylfurano(4'',5'',6,7)coumarin (thonningine-B).
FUNGITOXIC DIHYDROFURANOISOFLAVONES AND RELATED COMPOUNDS IN WHITE LUPIN, LUPINUS ALBUS
Tahara, Satoshi,Ingham, John L.,Nakahara, Shiro,Mizutani, Junya,Harborne, Jeffrey B.
, p. 1889 - 1900 (2007/10/02)
Chromatographic investigation of a methanolic extract of white lupin roots has revealed the presence of six new dihydrofuranoisoflavones (lupinisoflavones A-F).Three monoprenylated (3,3-dimethylallyl-substituted) isoflavones (wighteone, luteone and licoisoflavone A), two diprenylated isoflavones and two pyranoisoflavones (parvisoflavone B and licoisoflavone B) have also been isolated from the same source. In addition to genistein, leaf extracts of L. albus contain 3'-O-methylorobol which is presumed to be precursor of lupisoflavone .Probable biogenetic relationships between the prenylated, and dihydrofurano- and pyrano-substituted isoflavones in roots and leaves of L. albus are briefly discussed.Key Word Index -- Lupinus albus; Leguminosae; dihydrofuranoisoflavones; lupinisoflavones A-F; pyranoisoflavones; prenylated isoflavones; 3'-O-methylorobol: fungitoxins.
