Treatment of a MeOH solution of trans-[FeBr2(depe)2] (depe = Et2PCH2CH2PEt2) with HC≡CC6H10OH or HC≡C(CH2)n OH (n = 1 or 2), in the presence of NaBPh4, forms the cyclic allenylidene trans-[FeBr(=C=C=C6H10)(depe)2] [BPh4] or the alkyne trans-[FeBr{η2-HC≡C(CH2) nOH}(depe)2][BPh4] (n = 1 or 2) complexes, respectively.
