Formaldehyde, nitroso-, also known as nitrosoform, is a chemical compound with the formula H2NCHO. It is an unstable, colorless gas that is highly reactive and toxic. Formaldehyde, nitroso- is formed by the reaction of formaldehyde (HCHO) with nitric oxide (NO) under specific conditions. Nitrosoform is an important intermediate in the synthesis of various chemicals, such as nitro compounds and nitriles. Due to its high reactivity, it can readily undergo further reactions, making it a valuable precursor in organic chemistry. However, it is also known for its potential to form hazardous byproducts and its potential to cause health issues when inhaled or ingested, necessitating careful handling and safety measures in its production and use.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 5187-67-7 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 5,1,8 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 5187-67:
(6*5)+(5*1)+(4*8)+(3*7)+(2*6)+(1*7)=107
107 % 10 = 7
So 5187-67-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Laser photolysis of matrix-isolated methyl nitrate: Experimental and theoretical characterization of the infrared spectrum of imine peroxide (HNOO)

Ling, Ping,Boldyrev, Alexander I.,Simons, Jack,Wight, Charles A.

, p. 12327 - 12333 (2007/10/03)

Photodissociation of methyl nitrate (and its fully deuterated isotopomer) isolated in an argon matrix at 17 K has been investigated by 266 nm laser photolysis. Characterization of the product species has been performed by transmission Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. There are two parallel initial reaction channels, one of which is formation of formaldehyde (H2CO) and hydrogen nitryl (HNO2). The second channel is formation of formaldehyde and a previously unreported species, imine peroxide (HNOO). Quantum chemical calculations of the structure, vibrational frequencies, and infrared band intensities have been performed at the B3LYP/6-311++G**, MP2(full)/6-311++G**, and QCISD/6-311++** levels of theory. The calculated vibrational frequency patterns allowed us to confirm the detection and infrared spectral assignments of imine peroxide for the first time.
