2-CYANO-N-arylacetamide reagent is used in a straight forward synthesis of various interesting nitrogenous heterocycles such as iminocoumarine, thiazole, dihydropyridine and imidazole or benzoimidazole. Molecular docking studies are described to show the most active compounds as antimicrobial agents. Also, Biological testing of these compounds for their antimicrobial activities against some strains of Gram bacteria and strains of fungi has been carried out.

A facile synthesized polyethylene polyamine functionalized polyacrylonitrile fiber (PANF-PA), capable of acting as the heterogeneous base catalyst and supported phase-transfer catalyst (SPTC), was presented in Knoevenagel condensation-cyclization and nucleophilic substitution for the synthesis of a number of substituted iminocoumarins and sulfones in aqueous systems, respectively. Excellent results are shown in terms of simple procedures, high chemical yields (up to 96%), extensive applicability and superior catalytic recyclability even for 10 cycles. The deeper active principle of the PANF-PA as SPTC was explained through detailed characterization by means of elemental analysis, FTIR spectroscopy and SEM. Moreover, the procedures can be effectively scaled up, and the solvent can be easily recovered. As well as, the prominent features (high strength, good flexibility etc.) of the polyacrylonitrile fiber are very attractive for fixed-bed reactors in the chemical industry. This journal is
Recyclization of 2-imino-2H-1-benzopyrans under the influence of nucleophilic reagents. 1. New approach to the synthesis of 3-(1,3,4-oxadi-, thiadi-, and triazolyl-2)coumarins

It has been found that under the action of hydrazides of carboxylic acids, 2-iminocoumarin-3-carboxamides are recydized to N(1)-acylamidrazones of coumarin-3-carboxylic acids. The use of N(1)-acylamidrazones is proposed as a simple and effective means of synthesizing 3-(1,3,4-oxadi-, thiodi-, and triazolyl-2)coumarins. The possibilities of alternate schemes of synthesis are discussed, and a mechanism is suggested for the recyclization. 1996 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
