Abresoline is a unique alkaloid belonging to the Heimia group, found as a minor constituent in Heimia salicifolia. It is present in the most polar alkaloidal fraction and has been obtained in low yields. Abresoline forms a non-crystallizable solid without a definite melting point. Its ultraviolet spectrum features two absorption maxima at 284 and 323 nm. The structure of this alkaloid introduces an unknown variation in the series of Heimia alkaloids. Upon hydrogenation with Pd/C in MeOH, it yields a dihydro derivative, which is also an amorphous white powder with an absorption maximum at 282 nm and an inflexion at 287 nm. Hydrolysis with 2N-NaOH results in the formation of trans-ferulic acid. Abresoline can be synthesized from pelletierine and 3-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde as starting materials.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 53778-14-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,3,7,7 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 53778-14:
(7*5)+(6*3)+(5*7)+(4*7)+(3*8)+(2*1)+(1*4)=146
146 % 10 = 6
So 53778-14-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
