53823-15-7 Usage
Description
Tenellin is a yellow pigment that belongs to the rare 4-hydroxypyridone class and contains a dienone side chain. It is produced by species of the genus Beauveria and was first isolated and reported by Canadian researchers in 1968. The structure of tenellin was elucidated in 1977.
Uses
Used in Biocontrol Agents:
Tenellin is a metabolite of the Beauveria species, which are widely used as biocontrol agents for agrochemical pests. The Beauveria species, capable of producing tenellin, have been extensively utilized in this application due to their effectiveness in controlling pests. However, little has been published on the biological activity of tenellin itself in this context.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 53823-15-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,3,8,2 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 53823-15:
(7*5)+(6*3)+(5*8)+(4*2)+(3*3)+(2*1)+(1*5)=117
117 % 10 = 7
So 53823-15-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Convergent Total Synthesis of (+/-)-Tenellin
Rigby, James H.,Qabar, Maher
, p. 5852 - 5853 (2007/10/02)
A convergent total synthesis of the fungal biochrome tenellin is reported. The synthesis features an efficient cyclocondensation of a cinnamate derived isocyanate with a fully elaborated diene β-keto ester enolate reaction partner.
