N-(carboxymethyl)-N,N-dimethylhexadecan-1-aminium, also known as a cationic surfactant, is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C21H44NO2. It is derived from the parent compound hexadecan-1-aminium, where a carboxymethyl group (-CH2COOH) is attached to the nitrogen atom, and two methyl groups (-CH3) are present on the nitrogen as well. N-(carboxymethyl)-N,N-dimethylhexadecan-1-aminium is characterized by its cationic nature, which means it carries a positive charge, making it useful in various applications such as fabric softeners, hair conditioners, and antimicrobial agents. Its amphiphilic properties allow it to interact with both water and oils, facilitating its use in emulsification and dispersion processes.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 5466-51-3 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 5,4,6 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 5466-51:
(6*5)+(5*4)+(4*6)+(3*6)+(2*5)+(1*1)=103
103 % 10 = 3
So 5466-51-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Coupling of epoxides and carbon dioxide catalyzed by Br?nsted acid ionic liquids

Chang, Tao,Gao, Xiaorui,Bian, Li,Fu, Xiying,Yuan, Mingxia,Jing, Huanwang

, p. 408 - 413 (2015)

A series of Br?nsted acid ionic liquids (BAILs) containing a long chain Br?nsted acid site in the cationic part and a Lewis basic site in the anionic part were designed, synthesized, and used as catalyst for the coupling of epoxides and carbon dioxide to cyclic carbonates without a co-catalyst or co-solvent. The effects of catalyst structure and other parameters on the catalytic performance were investigated. The long chain 2-(N,N-dimethyldodecylammonium) acetic acid bromide ([(CH2COOH)DMDA]Br) showed high catalytic activity and good reusability. This protocol was expanded to various epoxides, which gave the corresponding cyclic carbonates in good yields. The acidity of the catalyst influenced its catalytic activity.

N-n-Alkyl N,N-dimethylammonioacetic acid bromides: The first complete series of crystal and molecular structure determinations of an amphiphilic compound with alkyl chain lengths n = 1 ,..., 16

Rudert, Rainer,Schulz, Burkhard,Reck, Guenter,Vollhardt, Dieter,Kriwanek, Joerg

, p. 124 - 131 (2007/10/03)

The molecular and crystal structures of 16 N-n-alkyl N,N-dimethylammonioacetic acid bromides with chain lengths between n = 1 and n = 16 have been determined. All compounds from n = 5 to n = 16 form bilayers with interdigitated chains. The even-numbered c
