The synthesis of thioethylene glycol diethers from thiirane with the use of allyl chloride and benzyl chloride as electrophiles is described.It was shown that in the absence of effective electrophiles opening of thiirane by phenols leads to the formation of a polymeric product.The dissociative ionization of compounds containing sulfide and ether groups at the same time is discussed.
