1H-Pentadecafluoroadamantane is a perfluorinated derivative of adamantane, a highly symmetrical and stable carbon cage molecule. It consists of an adamantane core with 15 fluorine atoms attached, resulting in the chemical formula C10F15. 1H-pentadecafluoroadamantane is known for its unique properties, such as high chemical stability, low reactivity, and excellent thermal and oxidative resistance. Due to these characteristics, 1H-pentadecafluoroadamantane finds applications in various fields, including as a lubricant, a heat transfer fluid, and a component in fire-suppressing foams. Its perfluorinated nature also makes it a valuable research tool for studying the effects of fluorination on molecular properties and reactivity.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 54767-15-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,4,7,6 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 54767-15:
(7*5)+(6*4)+(5*7)+(4*6)+(3*7)+(2*1)+(1*5)=146
146 % 10 = 6
So 54767-15-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Molecular structure of perfluoroadamantane from gas-phase electron diffraction

Hargittai, Istvan,Brunvoll, Jon,Sonoda, Takaaki,Takashi, Abe,Baba, Hajime

, p. 55 - 58 (1998)

The following bond lengths (r(g)) and bond angles have been determined for perfluomadamantane from gas-phase electron diffraction: C-C 1.560 ± 0.003, C(F2)-F 1.340 ± 0.005, C(F)-F 1.363 ± 0.010 A, CC(F2)C 107.7 ± 0.9, CC(F)C 110.3 ± 0.4, FC(F2)F 106.9 ± 0.4, C(F2)CF 108.6 ± 0.4 and C(F)CF 110.5 ± 0.2°. Perfluorination is found to expand the adamantane cage, characterized by a 0.02 A lengthening of the C-C bonds.

Functional group transformation of perfluoroadamantane derivatives

Murata, Koichi,Wang, Shu-Zhong,Morizawa, Yoshitomi,Oharu, Kazuya

, p. 1125 - 1129 (2008/09/16)

An adamantane skeleton, having rigid structure, has been used for a thermally stable and/or anti-etching material. It is expected to be a material having good optical properties, if fluorine atoms are introduced into the skeleton. Thus, the investigation concerning the functional group transformation of perfluoroadamantanecarboxylic acid derivatives was performed to develop the methods for introduction of perfluoroadamantyl group into molecules. Their unique reactivities are also discussed.
