Regularities of reversible radical dissociation in liquid crystals
Vorotnikov
, p. 391 - 393 (2007/10/03)
The effect of liquid-crystalline ordering of alkylcyanobiphenyls on the thermodynamic parameters of reversible dissociation of the dimeric 2,2′-bis[2-(p-dimethylaminophenyl)indane-1,3-dione] to the 2-(p-dimethylaminophenyl)indane-1,3-diyl radicals was found. The angular dependence of the ESR spectra of the radicals in the smectic mesophase is related to their orientation along the liquid crystal director.

, p. 701 - 709 (2007/10/03)
The influence of liquid crystal ordering in nematic, smectic and Isotropic phases on thermodynamic parameters of a reversible thermal dissociation of dimeric 2,2-bis[2-(p-dimethylaminophenyl)indan-1,3-dione] into two stables 2-(p-dimethylaminophenyl)indan-l,3-dione-2-yl radicals was investigated.
The influence of nematic phase ordering on reversibile radical dissociation
Vorotnikov,Pustoshnyi,Davydov,Pustoshnaya
, p. 736 - 739 (2007/10/03)
The temperature dependences of equilibrium constants for reversible thermal dissociation of dimeric 2,2-bis[2-(p-dimethylaminophenyl)indan-1,3-dione] into two 2-(p-dimethylaminophenyl)indan-1,3-dione-2-yl radicals were studied in the nematic and isotropic mesophases of N-(p-methoxybenzylidene)-n-butylaniline (MBBA). The observed increased effectiveness of the decomposition of dimer in MBBA in comparison with isotropic solutions and the complex character of the temperature dependences of the equilibrium constants are explained by MBBA nematic ordering effects on the thermodynamic parameters of the dissociation.
2-(p-Dimethylaminophenyl)indan-1,2-dione-2-yl Radical: ENDOR and ESR Studies and MNDO Calculation
Motyakin, M. V.,Pisarenko, L. M.,Schuler, P.,Stegmann, H. B.
, p. 471 - 475 (2007/10/02)
ENDOR and ESR spectra of the 2-(p-dimethylaminophenyl)indan-1,3-dione-2-yl radical were measured in toluene and diethyl phthalate at 350 K.A solvent dependence of the coupling constants was observed.Using the MNDO method, the optimized structure of the radical and the spin population distribution were derived. - Keywords: ESR; ENDOR; 2-Arylindan-1,3-dione-2-yl radical
