Fluxional motion in a dinuclear copper(i) complex with a propeller-type ligand: metal hopping on both sides
Kwon, Hyunchul,Lee, Eunsung
, p. 17206 - 17210 (2018)
The first study of fluxional motion in [Cu2(2-HPB)(MeCN)2Cl2] (1,2-HPB = hexa(2-pyridyl)benzene) is presented. For detailed examination of the fluxional motion mechanism, a monofluorinated derivative of the ligand (MFHPB)
Static and dynamic coordination behaviours of copper(i) ions in hexa(2-pyridyl)benzene ligand systems
Kwon, Hyunchul,Lee, Eunsung
, p. 8448 - 8455 (2018)
Two hexaarylbenzenes having six pyridine substituents (LH and LM) were prepared and six corresponding coordination complexes with copper(i) chloride were synthesized. Monomeric complexes (1, 2a and 2b) and 1D coordination polymers (3
Coordination preference of hexa(2-pyridyl)benzene with copper(ii) directed by hydrogen bonding
Kwon, Hyunchul,Lee, Eunsung
, p. 5233 - 5240 (2018)
A study of the coordination chemistry of the hexa(2-pyridyl)benzene (2-HPB) ligand with copper(ii) ions is presented. The 2-HPB ligand featuring six pyridine moieties can bind to a metal center in a number of different ways. Herein, we discuss dicopper(ii) complexes of 2-HPB that vary in coordination geometry. Thus, the four complexes obtained (1, 2, 3, and 4) adopt two different conformations, “(A,B)(C,D)-trans” (in 1 and 4) and “(A,B)(D,E)-trans” (in 2 and 3). The structure of the complex strongly depends on the solvent used (water, ethanol, and dimethylformamide (DMF)). In an aqueous solution, the formation of complexes 1 and 2 can be controlled by the choice of crystallization conditions. All the products were characterized by X-ray diffraction. The coordination preference of 2-HPB is evaluated in the context of hydrogen bonding in the solid state.

A series of hexa(heteroaryl)benzenes were synthesized by the Ru(II)-carboxylate-catalyzed multiple C-H activation of benzenes carrying pyridyl, pyrimidyl, or pyrazolyl directing groups using N-heteroaryl bromides as coupling partners. The reactions procee
