Methyl 2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzothiazepin-4(5H)-one-2-acetates (6) and methyl 2,3-dihydro-1,5-benzothiazepin-5(4H)-one-2-acetates (7) have been synthesized by carrying out Schmidt reaction on the respective thiochromanone-2-acetates (5).None of the compounds herein displays any noteworthy antiinflammatory activity.
