A family of olefin polymerization catalysts based on group IV metal complexes of amine bis(phenolate) ligands were studied. Weakening the sidearm donor of the ligands was found to affect the activity of the resultant polymerization catalysts. An increase in termination rate for both zirconium and titanium complexes led to either a decrease in the molecular weight of the resultant product, or a loss of living polymerization character.
