α-2',4-Anhydro-D-glucoisosaccharinic acid is a complex organic compound with the chemical formula C6H10O5. It is a derivative of D-glucose, a monosaccharide, and is characterized by the absence of hydroxyl groups at the 2' and 4 positions, which results in the formation of an anhydro bridge. α-2',4-anhydro-D-glucoisosaccharinic acid is of interest in the field of carbohydrate chemistry due to its unique structure and potential applications in the synthesis of various biologically active molecules. It is often used as an intermediate in the preparation of other complex carbohydrates and has been studied for its role in the formation of certain glycosidic linkages. The compound's anhydro nature makes it a valuable building block in the development of new pharmaceuticals and other bioactive compounds.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 58534-87-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,8,5,3 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 58534-87:
(7*5)+(6*8)+(5*5)+(4*3)+(3*4)+(2*8)+(1*7)=155
155 % 10 = 5
So 58534-87-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

A NOVEL HYDROXYLACTONE FROM THE LEWIS ACID CATALYSED PYROLYSIS OF CELLULOSE

Furneaux, Richard H.,Mason, Jennifer M.,Miller, Ian J.

, p. 49 - 52 (2007/10/02)

The novel δ-lactone (1) of (3R,5S)-3-hydroxy-5-hydroxymethyltetrahydrofuran-3-carboxylic acid (2) has been isolated from tar produced by pyrolysis of cellulose doped with zinc chloride.Using Curie-point pyrolysis-g.l.c. analysis, the lactone was shown to be a significant product of the pyrolysis of cellulose in the presence of a vide variety of other Lewis acids, but not in the presence of protic acids or copper(II)chloride. The lactone (1) was readily hydrolysed to the acid (2) and yielded the methyl ester (3) on methanolysis.
